MTBShreD - The Mountain Bike TrailHead

Pictures from recent weekend trip to Oliver Springs Tennessee, better known as Windrock.  Windrock OHV park has many activities for the inner redneck in you, including downhill mountain bike trails.  At least a 5+ full suspension is bike setup and good brakes is advised because the terrain features gnar descending top to bottom.  Essentially, almost big mountain riding you see on TV except rock to rock drop to rock chute, technical descent all the way down, with one high speed section.  Definitely need to experience this place if you have never been and get your skills in check.

Not many pictures from this race weekend, because of weather and the photographers shred time was encroached upon because of non-stop lightning alerts which seem to shut the whole place down.  However I got some good parking lot shots, especially one of the GROM affiliates shredding the bench.  Enjoy and see you next year; hopefully Snowshoe bike park has got some more stunts and features ready for us next season.

High speed mountain bike photography can be a bit overwhelming for newbies.  However with enough practice and some starting points from the pros, it will get you on the way to doing some good captures in the field.  DPreview a very reputable source on the web has done a great article detailing many techniques at your disposal when shooting mountain bike action.  Panning, lens choice, lighting and composition are the topics covered.

On a recent weekend trip 7.23.2011, the shred team went to Snowshoe West Virginia for a relaxing and riding filled weekend full of fun.  Going to Snowshoe Mountain resort on a non race weekend, riders are able to ride any trail they want, in addition to not being restricted to a predefined schedule to follow.  No schedule means true freeride fashion, which is what works for us and here are some highlight pictures from the trip.  Be sure to follow the link for the full gallery of pictures.

Snowshoe West Virginia, Powerade Downhill Race #1 was held on July 3rd 2011.  Riders traverse a variety of terrain totaling 1600 vertical feet, one of the best locations in eastern side of United States.  Shred members attended/raced the event and captured 351 pictures, be sure to check out the full gallery after the break.
